Neda’s wish

this poem is to honor our dear Iranian friend Kamyar and Iranian people's struggle for freedom and justice...

Neda
witness me, I am dying.
on a fine summer day,
my youth is fading
but I wont close my eyes.
I will look straight into the eyes
of the world
watching me as I leave this body,
so they wont forget
what I am dying for,
so the fear that unleashed the bullet
into my chest
shrivels and opens space for love.

My name is Neda,
I am the voice of a people
as I bleed to my death in silence,
knowing it will change the world.
I have sacrificed my voice,
not in vain,
but to join a collective cry to awaken
our wounded spirits.

look at me, I am dying
and my beautiful smile fading
but not my faith, not my hope!
I will be reborn as thousand Nedas
in the minds, hearts and souls
of my brothers and sisters
and generations to come.
do not forget me,
so I will live in the struggle of my people,
in freedom and love that will prevail.

remember me,
my name is Neda.
